About Me

Tom Nelson has been involved in Community Radio since 2016 but his love of music goes back to his school days where as a drummer he played in wind and brass bands as well as being in a rock band (wasn't everyone?). Tom has an eclectic taste in music having spent many long drives to Devon in his Grandad's Lada Riva listening to mixtapes of 50s, 60s and country, along with inheriting his father's vinyl collection of 70s and 80s before having his own love of 90s and 00s music.

Why Do You Volunteer for Highland Hospital Radio

Radio is a fun hobby of mine. To be able to enjoy my hobby and hopefully support local charities and to help the well being a recovery of our listeners is really pleasing and makes my time at Highland Hospital Radio feel very worthwhile.

What was the first song you got with your own money?

Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini - Bombalurina

What can I say? I was a Timmy Mallet fan in the 90s! Who wasn't?

What is your favourite album?

Permission to Land - The Darkness

I've been mocked for this. I've heard all the 'The Darkness are rubbish' comments. But, this album just makes me happy and reminds of a time being with some good friends, driving about in a Citreon ZX (cause we were cool) and rocking out to this!

What is the song that you play to get you in a good mood?

The original theme tune to catchphrase! I have a weird love of TV Theme tunes. I'm very handy to have around when your local pub quiz host throws you a round about them!
