Highland and Island Blood Bikes roll into The Saturday Drop In
Highland and Island Blood Bikes are a charity, operated solely by volunteers who aim to support NHS Highland by transporting patient test samples and clinical materials between facilities across the Highlands, and beyond.
From regular scheduled routes to urgent requests, Highland and Islands Blood Bikes are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week all year.
Is it just bikes and bikers?
Don’t let the name fool you!
Highland and Island Blood Bikers have just as many volunteer drivers as they do bikers. Plus, it takes a host of volunteers in the background to work as Operations Staff and Controllers, plus volunteer mechanics to keep the fleet on the road.
So, you don’t need to be a biker to support Highland and Island Blood Bikes.
On this week’s Saturday Drop In, Jan and Tom were joined by Gordon from Highland and Island Blood Bikes who told us about the origins of the charity and its aims and objectives.
You can listen to the interview on our YouTube podcast channel.
